    Structural Engineer in Summerville, SC

Mr. Brislin has been a professional engineer for more than 21 years and he has designed many structures and performed many different types of analysis in that time. He has worked for a steel fabricator, an architectural/engineering firm and a seismic consultant, and he has been in private practice for over 13 years. Mr. Brislin earned his BSCE degree from The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina, and his MSCE degree from the University of South Carolina. He has completed all his course work for his PhD degree but has not completed his dissertation. His graduate study work has been in mathematical elasticity. Dillon Fitzgerald, Ph.D. P.E.

Principal/Owner of Cambium Design, LLC in Thurmont, MD

Dr. Fitzgerald grew up in Maryland working in his father’s construction company for many summers restoring barns, houses, and bridges. Dr. Fitzgerald went on to earn a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in civil engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York. After working in structural engineering consulting at Bensonwood and Tetra Tech IER, Dr. Fitzgerald attended Oregon State University to earn a PhD in Wood Science and Civil Engineering. During and after his PhD program, Dr. Fitzgerald published multiple papers in ASCE and Engineering Structures journals on mass timber connections in shear walls and has presented at the SEI Structures Congress.

Dr. Fitzgerald has continued to act as a peer reviewer for two different engineering journals and is on ASCE’s Wood Design committee. The committee is currently developing a new design guide for direct-displacement design of low-rise wood framed buildings. After earning his Ph.D., Dr. Fitzgerald worked at Ohlin and Reed in Ohio as a consulting engineer. Dr. Fitzgerald then founded Cambium Design LLC, a design and engineering office in Maryland and is licensed in multiple mid-Atlantic states. Prior to founding Cambium Design Dillon provided engineering design and consulting on projects ranging from steel framed libraries, to low rise office buildings, to mass timber homes, and restorations of various historic buildings. Cambium Design LLC continues to offer its Clients premier services focused on structural engineering for timber buildings. Cambium’s designs houses, barns, adaptive reuse, restorations, mass timber, heavy timber, and light frame buildings. He looks forward to meeting you at this webinar graciously hosted by HalfMoon Education.

    Speakers

    Lori Catalano

Lori Catalano’s background in professional practice and her teaching experience are closely linked. She is a licensed and practicing landscape architect in Colorado and an associate professor in the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture at Colorado State University. Prior to teaching, she designed and managed projects ranging from small private spaces to large master plans for parks and college campuses with both public and private clients resulting in several Colorado ASLA awards. As an experienced teacher, her research and creative work are closely related to and integrated with her teaching. Her research topics include strategies for helping students move beyond their fear and resistance during the design process, changing the planting aesthetic for the arid West, and meaningful community engagement. All these years later, it’s not uncommon to see a shopper with a well-worn copy, bristling with sticky notes, at plant sales and garden centers. Just as indispensable to shrub and tree selection (plus groundcovers, vines and lawn grass) is Knopf’s companion volume “Waterwise Landscaping with Trees, Shrubs and Vines.” – Marcia Tatroe, 2006 Denver Post
