Architectural Engineering Access SpecialistMs. Warner has dedicated over 30 years to planning, designing, and constructing public facilities, focusing on accessible design for the past 25 years. Her goal is to ensure that individuals of all abilities can enjoy the facilities in the City of San Diego. Throughout her career, Ms. Warner has worked in various departments, including Engineering, Parks, and Public Works, and is currently with the Sustainability and Mobility Department, specifically in the ADA Compliance and Accessibility Section. Her influence extends beyond her current role. Ms. Warner actively collaborates on the development of Street Design Guidelines, Curb ramp design guidelines and City standards, Municipal codes, and Public Rights of Way policies. She oversees the city’s accessibility compliance program and implements improvements outlined in the Facilities and Right-of-Way (ROW) Transition Plan, demonstrating her comprehensive approach to accessibility. Ms. Warner holds a Master of Science degree in Architectural Engineering and is a Certified Access Specialist. She reviews design and construction documents, provides training, and develops new standards and guidelines to ensure compliance with accessibility regulations. Additionally, Ms. Warner serves as a board member of California’s Certified Access Specialists Institute.

Professional Trail Builder and Natural Resource ManagerMr. Meister has worked as a professional trail builder, naturalist, and land manager since 2013. He is currently the natural resource manager for Tennessee State Parks. Previously, he was the Trails & Vista administrator for the agency where he oversaw the maintenance and management of a 1,400-mile trail system spread across 58 state parks and 84 state natural areas. In this role. Mr. Meister was also responsible for the design, construction, and project management of all new trail development. Throughout his career his goal has been to create recreational experiences for everyone, regardless of their ability level. This has led to extensive experience in accessible trail design and construction efforts that have received national awards and recognition.

She is a licensed instructor for the requisite course for the ADU Specialist designation through Earth Advantage. Additionally, Ms. Christian was an instructor at the national ADU Academy 2022. She has served on a number of committees at the Casita Coalition to further small housing legislation, building code and lending opportunities. Accessory Dwelling StrategiesMr. Peterson is an ADU expert based in Portland, Oregon, who has helped catalyze the exponential growth of ADUs in Portland over the last decade through ADU advocacy, education, consulting, policy work, and entrepreneurship through his company, Accessory Dwelling Strategies LLC. He also edits and manages AccessoryDwellings.org and BuildinganADU.com. Mr. Peterson is the author of Backdoor Revolution-The Definitive Guide to ADU Development. He consults with homeowners about ADUs on their property, and teaches ADU classes for homeowners and for real estate agents in Oregon, Washington, and California. Mr. Peterson served on the technical and rules advisory committees for Oregon’s House Bill 2001 to overhaul municipal residential zoning standards to allow for middle housing throughout Oregon. He also co-runs ADU Academy and the ADU Specialist designation for professionals with Earth Advantage. Executive Director, Chester County Water Resources AuthorityDr. Byun joined the Chester County Water Resources Authority (CCWRA) as the Executive Director in 2020. She has more than 25 years of experience in water resources management, having worked at nonprofits, government agencies, academia, and private consulting. Prior to her role with CCWRA, Dr. Byun served as a water resource engineer with the Delaware River Basin Commission and the Senior Planner for Water Resources with the Brandywine Conservancy. She also contributed to the development of watershed management plans, conducted source water assessments, and analyzed wastewater collection systems, primarily for the City of Philadelphia, during her time with CDM Smith, an engineering and construction firm. Dr. Byun’s collective experience spans the water resources field, ranging from water supply availability to stormwater management to local policy-based initiatives for water quality improvement. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, Master of Science degree in Environmental Engineering from Drexel University, and a doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania in City and Regional Planning, with a focus on environmental planning and urban design. Dr. Byun has also served as an adjunct instructor at the University of Pennsylvania, Weitzman School of Design.

Beth Uhler

Her contributions have been instrumental for local governments and stewards of Pennsylvania’s waters and beyond. Lisa Werder Brown
Executive Director, Watersheds of South PittsburghMs. Werder Brown’s work focuses on the Saw Mill Run and Streets Run Watersheds in Pittsburgh’s southern neighborhoods and communities that are impacted by the shared environmental issues of stormwater runoff and sewage overflows. She works closely with the watershed communities, local governments, and academic and nonprofit partners to identify the issues and explore opportunities for stormwater mitigation in the watersheds. Tyler A. Raymond

This webinar is open to the public and is designed to qualify for 8.0 PDHs for professional engineers and 8.0 HSW continuing education hours for landscape architects in all states that allow this learning method. Please refer to specific state rules to determine eligibility.

Nail is a professor in the Engineering Department at the University of Tennessee at Martin where he teaches a variety of courses including fluid mechanics, hydraulics and hydrology, and hydraulic and hydrologic modeling. He holds a professional engineer’s license based on having passed both the Civil and Mechanical discipline-specific exams. Prior to coming to UT-Martin in 2002, he worked as a research hydraulic engineer for the United States Army Corp of Engineers for 11 years. He continues to be professionally active by working summer internships, carrying on consulting work, supervising senior design projects, and regularly delivering continuation programs, all oriented around computational hydraulic and computational hydrologic modeling. Dr. Nail earned his B.M.E. degree from Auburn University and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Texas A&M University.
