Karen Bennett
Attorney with Clark Hill in Washington, D.C.Ms. Bennett is a member in the firm’s Environment, Energy & Natural Resources practice group. She represents clients on environmental and administrative law matters, focusing primarily on permitting, compliance, litigation and legislative and regulatory policy under the Clean Water Act (CWA), the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act (SMCRA), the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), and the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA). Ms. Bennett has also guided clients through Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) cost recovery actions and appeals. She is recognized as a skilled strategist, with expertise in obtaining federal approvals for complex projects that face multi-front regulatory hurdles and public scrutiny, with special emphasis on the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation. Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Bennett was vice president for Environmental Affairs at the National Mining Association (NMA), the Washington, D.C.- based trade association that represents the coal and hardrock mining industry before Congress, the Administration, and regulatory agencies. Ms. Bennett earned her JD degree from the University of Denver, College of Law, where she was the editor of the Water Court Reporter, and is licensed to practice in the District of Columbia.

He has extensive experience in whole building systems testing and has been in the industry for over 25 years. Mr. Sheppard serves on the Board of Directors for NEBB and is currently the president-elect for 2021. Mr. Sheppard has served on, and chaired, both the Building Systems Commissioning and TAB Committees for NEBB. Mr. Sheppard is also an ACG Certified CxA. He has created and taught several certification courses, including Testing, Adjusting and Balancing for Certified Professionals and for Certified Technicians; Technical Commissioning for Professionals; Retro-Commissioning; and Commissioning Technician review seminars. John Bailey
John Bailey is a professor of Silviculture and Fire Management in the College of Forestry at Oregon State University. He obtained his BS and MF degrees from Virginia Tech in the 1980s, then he worked for 6+ years with the Environmental Protection Agency in Corvallis, Oregon, on forest stressors. He completed a PhD degree at Oregon State University and joined the faculty at Northern Arizona University in 1996, where he worked in ponderosa pine silviculture, fuels management and ecological restoration. Professor Bailey returned to OSU in 2006 to continue research on fuels/fire management and sustainable forestry in drier fire-prone forest types, as well as multi-story management in mixed forest types for broad ecosystem objectives. His recent research and outreach focus is on landscape-scale wildfire risk and how to use sustainable forest management to minimize the adverse impacts of future wildfire in uncertain climatic times.
Dave Lasky
Dave Lasky is the director of Fire Management for the Forest Stewards Guild and the module lead for the Gravitas Peak Wildland Fire Module, and he has spent 20 years in fire management. He has worked as a suppression firefighter with extensive experience in Colorado’s Front Range and its recent history of catastrophic fires in the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI). Mr. Lasky has had a diverse career, from running Daylight Again Restoration Forestry, which used draft horses as the motive power source, to many years as an engine boss, and serving on Type 2 and 3 Incident Management Teams. He spent thre years as the lead for the Four Mile Fire Crew, working with landowners and state and federal partners to build fire resilient communities. A qualified burn boss and incident commander, Mr. Lasky now focuses on workforce development and social justice issues to increase the pace and scale of prescribed fire implementation.
Corrina Marshall
Corrina Marshall is the Intermountain west regional coordinator with the Forest Stewards Guild. She project manages several next generation community wildfire protection plans that the Guild is developing. She has extensive experience in private working lands conservation across the West and Midwest. Her career spans the gap from prescribed fire and ecological restoration implementation projects to community engagement with federal, state, non-profit, and private partners.
Megan Matonis
Megan Matonis, PhD. is the Intermountain West regional manager with the Forest Stewards Guild. Having previously worked at the Rocky Mountain Research Station and with Colorado State Forest Service, Dr. Matonis has significant research and outreach experience in fire ecology, forest ecology, and fire management. Her dissertation research focuses on collaborative landscape-scale restoration of ponderosa pine and dry mixed-conifer forests along the Colorado Front Range and Uncompahgre Plateau. Notably, Dr. Matonis is a coauthor on a highly-regarded general technical report on restoration treatments in ponderosa pine forests.

Daniel Leavell
Daniel Leavell is an associate professor of practice in Forest and Fire Science at Oregon State University’s College of Forestry. As of last June, he was given the job of lead in developing a fire-based education, training, and experience program for the College. Mr. Leavell has worked in various locations throughout the northwest and Rocky Mountains as a forester, silviculturist, botanist, program manager and NF staff. He has worked from Florida to Alaska on wildfire, hurricane, flood, and other emergency incidents as a firefighter (held all NWCG operation section positions, safety officer, line EMT, field observer, situation unit leader, infrared interpreter, BAER team, and other positions), fire and emergency incident manager (Type 1 and 2 Operations Section Chief, Incident Commander Type 3), and forest/fire ecologist – for the Forest Service, States and various academic/state institutions (1973 to 2012).
Mr. Leavell has also been a private consultant in forestry and ecology (2010 to 2014), a volunteer fire chief for a NW Montana structure fire dept. (2006 to 2012), an assistant professor of practice and forest/fire extension agent for Oregon State University, College of Forestry Extension in Klamath and Lake County, Oregon (2014 to 2020), a volunteer firefighter/EMT for a county fire department in Klamath Falls (2015 to 2018). He was also severed in the Navy from 1969 to 1974 and earned BS and MS degrees in Forestry/Forest Science at Oregon State University (1977 and 1992 respectively) and a PhD from University of Montana in Landscape, Community, And Disturbance Ecology (2000).

She received her B.A. degree in Political Science and English from Ball State University in 2000 and her J.D. degree from Marquette University Law School in 2004.

Michele L. Perreault
Michele L. Perreault is an equity partner in the Madison office of DeWitt LLP, where she serves as chair of the Family Law Practice Group. Ms. Perreault has represented over 1,000 clients with their family law matters. In addition to her family law litigation experience, she has successfully litigated cases ranging from estate disputes to multi-million dollar property tax disputes. Ms. Perreault also serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Wisconsin Law School, teaching classes related to family law as well as constitutional law.

Professor at University of Wisconsin-MadisonMr. Ohm’s teaching, research, and outreach focus on the legal and institutional framework for planning. Mr. Ohm joined the UW faculty in 1994, and he holds a joint appointment with the University of Wisconsin Extension where he is the state specialist in land use law, environmental regulation, and growth management. He also has affiliate appointments with UW’s Nelson Institute of Environmental Studies. Mr. Ohm served as chair of the Department of Urban & Regional Planning from 2008 – 2012. Prior to joining the faculty at UW, Mr. Ohm worked as an attorney for the Metropolitan Council, the regional governing body for the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. While at the Council he was involved in numerous regional planning initiatives involving land use, affordable housing, natural resources, transportation, governance, and local public service delivery. Prior to that he worked as an attorney in private practice for the Minneapolis law firm then known as Popham, Haik, Schnobrich & Kaufman, Ltd., where he specialized in litigation involving land use, eminent domain, and complex securities fraud. Mr. Ohm holds a law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School, a Master of Arts degree in History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Olaf College with majors in History and Political Science.
Brian Randall

Associate Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison of EngineeringProfessor Fratta is an associate professor in Geological Engineering and Civil Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He holds Civil Engineering degrees from three different universities: a diploma from U.N. Corboda (Argentina), an M.A.Sc. degree from U. of Waterloo (Canada), and a Ph.D. degree from Georgia Tech (USA). He has over 20 years of teaching experience through courses in soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and applied geophysics, and he is the author of three books. Professor Fratta also supports a research group that pursues studies in near-surface geophysics, wave propagation in soils and groups, and experimental geotechnical engineering.
