Each webinar session earns continuing education credit and can be registered for individually. All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.
Certificates of completion will be provided for each webinar attended and will be sent via email in PDF form about five business days after the conclusion of the series.
Webinars are presented via GoToWebinar, an easy-to-use application that can be run on most systems and tablets. Instructions and login information will be provided in an email sent close to the date of the webinar. Continuing Education Credit Information
This seminar offers 6.5 PDHs to professional engineers and 6.5 HSW continuing
education hours to architects in all states. It offers 6.5 HSW continuing education hours
to landscape architects licensed in most states. HalfMoon Education is not seeking
landscape architect approval in Florida, New Jersey, or North Carolina.
HalfMoon Education is an approved continuing education sponsor for engineers in
Florida (Provider No. 0004647), Indiana (License No. CE21700059), Maryland, New Jersey
(Approval No. 24GP00000700), and North Carolina (S-0130). HalfMoon Education is
deemed an approved continuing education sponsor for New York engineers, architects,
and landscape architects via its registration with the American Institute of Architects
Continuing Education System (Regulations of the Commissioner §68.14(i)(2), §69.6(i)(2),

This course has been approved by the American Institute of Architects Continuing
Education System for 6.5 LU|HSW (Sponsor No. J885) and the Landscape Architecture
Continuing Education System for 6.5 HSW PDHs. Only full participation is reportable to
the AIA/CES and LA CES.
The International Society of Arboriculture has approved this course for the following
CEUs: 6.5 Certified Arborist, Climber Specialist, Utility Specialist, Municipal Specialist,

In-person attendance will be monitored, and attendance certificates will be available
after the seminar for most individuals who complete the entire event. Attendance
certificates not available at the seminar will be mailed to participants within fifteen
Completion certificates will be awarded to participants who complete this event online,
respond to all prompts, and earn a passing score (80%) on the quiz that follows the
presentation (multiple attempts allowed).

Course Description: This course examines the science and techniques for tree health and longevity by understanding soil conditions and improvements, establishing and maintaining root health, strategies for training young trees, maintaining branch structure, pruning strategies and techniques, and tree planning and selection for site conditions.

Learners will be able to explain how soil compaction affects tree health, and they will be able to identify ways to avoid damaging soil.
Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to describe methods to keep water where it needs to be to benefit trees, and they will be able to create the optimum environment for tree roots.
Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to discuss biological health techniques to increase tree vigor, longevity, and stability.
Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to describe methods for training young trees, maintaining branch structure, altering tree growth patterns, and how and when trees should be pruned – all of which increase tree health and sustainability.
Learning Objective 5:
Learners will be able to explain predictable tree failures and how the can be avoided by selecting proper materials, adhering to proper planning techniques, and following proven planting methods.
