Ms. Surlej, R.A., NCARB, is a building envelope consultant in the Chicago office of Walker Consultants. She has been in the building envelope and restoration industry for 13 years. In that time, she has completed a wide variety of building envelope consulting projects, most notably the terra cotta restoration of The Bridgeview Bank Uptown in Chicago, Illinois, and building envelope consulting services for new construction of The Corners in Brookfield, Wisconsin. Ms. Surlej can take her foundation in historic preservation and forensic building failure and apply that knowledge to new construction. In recent years, she has teamed up with general contractors to review construction documents and identify and address problems as well as improve the quality of the overall building envelope.
