Continuing Education Credit Information
This seminar is open to the public and offers 6.5 PDHs to professional engineers, 6.5 Public Protection PDUs to architects, and 6.5 contact hours to landscape architects in Georgia. Educators and courses are not subject to preapproval in Georgia.
This seminar is approved by the American Institute of Architects for 6.5 LU|HSW (Provider No. J885) and the Landscape Architecture Continuing Education System for 6.5 HSW PDHs. Only full attendance can be reported to the AIA/CES and LA/CES.
Engineers, architects, and landscape architects seeking continuing education credit in other states will be able to apply the hours earned at this seminar, in most cases. Refer to specific state rules to determine eligibility. HalfMoon Education is an approved continuing education sponsor for engineers in Florida, Indiana, Maryland, New Jersey (Approval No. 24GP00000700), North Carolina, and North Dakota.
The Association of State Floodplain Managers has approved this course for 6.5 CECs.
This seminar also offers a non-mandatory continuing education opportunity for contractors. It has not been reviewed by any state contractor licensing entity.
Attendance will be monitored, and attendance certificates will be available after the seminar for most individuals who complete the entire event. Attendance certificates not available at the seminar will be mailed to participants within fifteen business days.

Course Title: Soil Mechanics, Slope Stabilization, Failures, and Repairs
Delivery Method: Live
Course Description: This 6.5 hour live lecture presentation covers soil mechanics and classification, slope stability analysis, reinforced slope stability analysis, earth structure failures and fixes, site layout, and slope instability prevention.
Learning Objectives:
Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to explain the importance of recognizing soil properties and the need to having soils investigated before undertaking site development, particularly on sloped terrain.
Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to discuss fundamental soil characteristics and slope instability, explain strategies to improve or restore stability with construction practices, use of vegetation, and engineered slopes.
Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to identify types of slopes and distinguish types of instability, and discuss reinforced slope stability calculations, geosynthetic materials and alternatives used to achieve stability.
Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to identify methods to prevent slope failures, recognize potential problems in the field, and identify potential causes of problems or failures.
