Continuing Education Credit Information
This seminar is open to the public and offers 7.0 PDHs to professional engineers and 7.0 HSW continuing education hours to architects in all states. Educators and courses are not subject to preapproval in Idaho.
The American Institute of Architects has approved this event for 7.0 HSW Learning Units (Sponsor No. J885). Only full attendance can be reported to the AIA/CES.
HalfMoon Education is deemed an approved architect continuing education sponsor in New York. HalfMoon Education is an approved continuing education sponsor for engineers in Florida, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, New Jersey, New York (NYSED Provider No. 35), North Carolina, and North Dakota.
This program also offers a non-credit continuing education opportunity to construction contractors. It has not been approved by any contractor board with a continuing education requirement. Idaho HVAC contractors do not have a continuing education requirement at this time.
Attendance will be monitored, and attendance certificates will be available after the seminar for most individuals who complete the entire event. Attendance certificates not available at the seminar will be mailed to participants within fifteen business days.
Speakers
Nolan Hill
Highland West Energy, LLCCo-Founder and CEO of Highland West Energy, LLCMr. Hill is the co-founder and CEO of Highland West Energy, LLC. Highland West is the premier reciprocating engine CHP developer throughout the Intermountain West and Pacific Northwest regions. He has been formally trained on CHP qualification analysis by the Northwest Combined Heat and Power Technical Advisory Panel. Mr. Hill is trained to work with consumers (end users), engineers, and architects to qualify CHP project potentials based upon CHP sizing, equipment selection, and financial investment, including return non-investment calculations.
Marcia Karr
WSU Energy ProgramMs. Karr worked with the Northwest Combined Heat and Power Technical Advisory Panel to develop training and tools for assessment of the viability for installing combined heat and power at commercial and industrial facilities. Assessments include determination of right sizing, selecting the best technology, mechanical and electrical interface, permitting and associated regulations. This is done with the goal of providing customers with a technology that will save them money, improve power and thermal reliability, and reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.
Carolyn Roos, Ph.D.
Dr. Roos is a mechanical engineer with over 20 years of experience in industrial and building systems energy efficiency, specializing in the development of Excel-based calculators for engineers and contractors. She provides technical assistance on commercial and industrial energy system efficiency and renewable energy projects. Dr. Roos also provides technical support to the U.S. DOE Northwest Combined Heat and Power Technical Assistance Partnership, focusing on CHP, biopower and waste heat to power applications. She previously worked as an energy management engineer at Puget Sound Energy, where she performed energy efficiency analyses for commercial and industrial customers, and at the Army Corps of Engineers Hydroelectric Design Center.
