All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

Continuing Education Credit Information

This webinar is open to the public and is designed to qualify for 2.0 PDHs for professional engineers, 2.0 HSW continuing education hours for licensed architects, and 2.0 HSW continuing education hours for landscape architects in all states that allow this learning method. Please refer to specific state rules to determine eligibility.

Speakers

Jason P. Martina, Ph.D

Assistant Professor at the Department of Biology at Texas State University

Dr. Martina is an assistant professor at Texas State University in San Marcos, TX (started fall 2019). His primary research interests involve better understanding global change phenomena in wetland and grassland ecosystems. Before coming to Texas State, Dr. Martina was the program coordinator of the EEB and ABS programs at Texas A&M University and an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Ecosystem Science and Management. He received his Ph.D. degree at Michigan State University with Drs. Steve Hamilton and Merritt Turetsky and completed a postdoc at the University of Michigan with Drs. Deborah Goldberg and Bill Currie.

Course Title: Wetland Preservation, Restoration, Creation and Enhancement

Course Description: This two-hour course explains the importance of wetlands and primarily focuses on the purposes, strategies, methods and techniques of wetland preservation, restoration, creation and enhancement.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to explain the importance of wetlands and the environmental services they offer, such as flood storage, nutrient removal, erosion control, habitat for wildlife and recreational opportunities for people.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to describe the purposes and techniques of wetland enhancement.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to identify the methods of wetland creation and explain the benefits and drawbacks.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to explore strategies and techniques of wetland restoration with a preference for onsite and in-kind restoration, while taking into account hydrological considerations.
