Course Title: Water Damage Events: Scope, Risks, and Accountability in Remediation
Delivery Method: Live Online
Course Description: This seven-hour course focuses on the assessment and resolution of water damage events. The course begins with a discussion on the behavior of water and how it moves through a structure and affects various materials. The course then explains how to assess hazards, facilitate structure drying, manage aerosolized water vapor, control humidity, create a drying plan, and other strategies necessary to remove all problematic water and vapor.
Learning Objectives:
Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to discuss the behavior of water, its three phases, evaluate mechanisms of distribution in materials and structures, and assess its impact on various building materials.
Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to apply psychrometry to discern the movement of water in building materials and assemblies to properly manage vapor pressure gradients for effective structure drying.
Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to assess hazards in a water damage event and discuss how to manage aerosolized water vapor/particulate and document site conditions.
Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to explain the importance of initial humidity control, determine stabilization conditions, create a drying plan and generate an initial report to carrier or risk department.
LUs: 7.0 LU Type: LU|HSWs.
Prerequisites: None
Advance Preparation: None
Program Level: Intermediate
Course Expiration Date: 01/29/2027
