All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.
Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

Continuing Education Credit Information
This webinar is open to the public and is designed to qualify for 7.0 PDHs for professional engineers and 7.0 HSW continuing education hours for licensed architects in Utah.
The American Institute of Architects Continuing Education System has approved this course for 7.0 HSW LUs (Sponsor No. J885). Only full participation is reportable to the AIA/CES.
The International Code Council has approved this event for .7 CEUs in the specialty area of Building (Preferred Provider No. 1232).
Attendance will be monitored, and attendance certificates will be available after the webinar for those who attend the entire course and score a minimum 80% on the quiz that follows the course (multiple attempts allowed).

Consultant, Plans Examiner, Inspector and Educator at Shums Coda Associates in UtahMr. Van Ausdal has been in the building code trades as a combination inspector for more than 27 years, with 22 years of that as a building official for various communities. After retiring from city government, he works as a consultant, plans examiner, inspector, and educator for Shums Coda Associates in Utah. He has been teaching plumbing, mechanical and combination type building codes for more than 18 years for inspectors and contractors in various organizations and various states. Mr. Van Ausdal has served for the following groups: Utah Chapter ICC as past president; Utah Chapter IAEI as past president; North West Section IAEI as past president; Utah Association of Building Officials as past president; and past chair of the Electrical Advisory Committee for State of Utah.

Course Title: Utah Residential Code

Course Description: This seven-hour course closely examines and explains the provisions and regulations of the 2021 International Residential Code and the amendments published by the state of Utah. The courses focuses on the development and enforcement of the 2021 IRC, its adoption in Utah, building planning, shell construction, energy efficiency, and mechanical, fuel, plumbing and electrical systems.
Learning Objectives:
Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to discuss the development, adoption, and enforcement of the 2021 International Residential Code in Utah and gain familiarity with the Utah amendments.
Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to utilize chapters 2-10 of the Code as a guide for building planning and shell construction. Topics include live loads, seismic provisions, ceiling heights, garages, ingress and egress stairways, fire detection, wood products, roof assemblies, framing, foundations, and much more.
Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to utilize chapter 11 of the Code to increase energy efficiency by giving special consideration to climate classifications, thermal envelopes, insulation, fenestration, and lighting.
Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to reference the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC) and the National Electrical Code (NEC) for information guiding the design and construction of mechanical, fuel, plumbing and electrical systems. Topics include fuel gas system and appliances, plumbing fixtures, drains, backflow preventers, overcurrent devices, electrical outlets, pools, hot tubs, and much more.
