Michael S. Blackwell

Mr. Blackwell represents a variety of clients, ranging from general contractors, subcontractors, owners, developers, insurers, and sureties in construction and labor issues, to companies involved in sales, acquisitions, corporate governance matters, commercial disputes, and other challenges arising in the commercial arena. Stanley A. Martin

Course Description: This 6.5-hour course focuses on the provisions of and changes to construction contracts and as defined by AIA Document A201. This course begins with an overview of construction project management and the related contract documents before an in-depth discussion on changes to the work, the time and schedule, payments and completion, protection of people and property, insurance and bonds, defects and corrections of work, breaches of contract, and claims and disputes.

Learners will be able to identify the involved parties (owner, architect, engineer, contractor, subcontractor, and material providers), their interests and responsibilities, such as the scope of work.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to understand the owner’s rights and mutual responsibilities, respond to change orders and directives, and monitor progress for any necessary delays or extensions of time.
