Webinar Instructions

All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

Webinars are presented via GoToWebinar, an easy-to-use application that can be run on most systems and tablets. Instructions and login information will be provided in an email sent close to the date of the webinar. It is highly recommended that you download, install and test the application before the webinar begins by clicking on the link in the email.

Lee Gilman & Associates, LLC
Mr. Gilman is a board certified master arborist who runs a horticultural services and consulting firm involved primarily with advanced tree care and plant health care programs. His efforts are often intended to support the control of architectural theming in built-environments. Mr. Gilman studied Agricultural Economics at Cornell University, Ornamental Horticulture and Arboriculture at S.U.N.Y. – Farmingdale, and Forestry at Paul Smith’s College. He is a past president of the Arborist Association of New Jersey, has served on the board of the Staten Island Botanical Gardens, is a past recipient of New Jersey’s Arborist of the Year award and is currently on the board of the New Hampshire Arborists Association.

Course Description: This seven-hour lecture presentation examines the science and care of trees and their role in urban environments.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to explain the biological requirements for plant growth and will be able to to discuss the principles of biological design and how it can affect tree health and disease.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to identify characteristics of native and non-native tree species.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to describe how trees can be utilized as design elements and the importance of maintaining their species diversity and health.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to identify environmental treats to trees in urban settings, including pest, disease and other risks.

Learning Objective 5:
Learners will be able to employ tree maintenance and protection strategies in urban areas that will extend tree life and benefits, and they will be able to demonstrate that the investment of maintenance pays back the community.
