Michael Galvin RCA

Consulting Group Director
Michael Galvin is a registered consulting arborist (#432) and an ISA Certified Arborist (#MA-0304-A). He is Past President of the American Society of Consulting Arborists and has received the True Professionals of Arboriculture Award from the International Society of Arboriculture. Mr. Galvin provided technical and financial assistance to communities across Maryland during a decade as Supervisor of Urban & Community Forestry for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources-Forest Service, including helping initiate the Urban Tree Canopy initiative for the Chesapeake Bay Program. At Casey Trees, he helped set the tree canopy goal for the Nation’s Capital and established the Tree Report Card to monitor progress and has since worked on Urban Tree Canopy projects across the US. He recently served on the Chesapeake Bay Urban Tree Canopy Expert Panel, charged with recommending credits to be assigned to urban tree canopy as a best management practice under the Chesapeake Bay TMDL. Mr. Galvin was project coordinator the Baltimore Wood Project and served as a consultant to US Forest Service Research & Development on urban wood waste recovery and reuse.

Specifically, the course discusses how to plan for tree canopy at the landscape scale, tree preservation during construction activities, standards for tree care, and urban wood waste reuse and recovery.
