This webinar is open to the public and is designed to qualify for 7.0 PDHs for professional engineers and 7.0 HSW continuing education hours for licensed architects in all states that allow this learning method. Please refer to specific state rules to determine eligibility.

Building & Zoning Director for Village of Swansea, IllinoisMr. Iliff has been a building official, building inspector, and city planner for more than 25 years, serving cities in Indiana, Texas, Missouri, and Illinois. He earned an undergraduate degree in Urban Planning and Development from Ball State University. Mr. Iliff holds certifications as a residential building inspector, building official, city planner, and floodplain manager. He has taught classes on the residential, building, and property maintenance codes with a focus on preparing students for certification exams and effective administration.

Course Title: Residential Energy Efficiency Code Compliance and Stretch Code Requirements

Course Description: This seven-hour course examines the residential provisions of the 2021 International Energy Conservation Code and stretch code requirements. The course focuses on residential chapters 2-4, covering materials, systems, thermal envelopes, energy modeling, HVAC, mechanical systems, lighting and power systems and more. The course will also explore chapter 5 on existing buildings.
Learning Objectives:
Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to explain the history, development and scope of the 2021 International Energy Conservation Code and identify climate zones.
Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to analyze thermal building envelope design, utilize prescriptive insulation and fenestration, and assess building efficiency using REScheck.
Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to identify and comply with stretch code requirements for heat recovery ventilation systems and wiring for electric vehicle charging.
Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to explore code provisions applicable to existing buildings, such as those related to additions, alterations, repairs, and changes of occupancy.
