All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

Webinars are presented via GoToWebinar, an easy-to-use application that can be run on most systems and tablets. Continuing Education Credit Information
This webinar is open to the public and offers 7.0 PDHs to professional engineers licensed in Ohio. Educators and courses are not subject to preapproval in Ohio.

This course offers 7.0 HSW continuing education hours to Ohio architects and landscape architects. It is approved by the American Institute of Architects Continuing Education System for 7.0 LU|HSW and by the Landscape Architecture Continuing Education System for 7.0 HSW PDHs. Only full attendance is reportable to AIA/CES and LA CES.

The Association of State Floodplain Managers has approved this course for 7.0 CECs for certified floodplain managers.

The Ohio Supreme Court Commission on CLE has approved this course for 7.0 general CLE hours for attorneys.

Completion certificates will be awarded to participants who complete this event, respond to all prompts, and earn a passing score (80%) on the quiz that follows the presentation (multiple attempts allowed).

Dr. Michael Liptak, PhD

Senior Ecologist at EnviroScience, Inc.

Dr. Liptak is a senior ecologist at EnviroScience, Inc, where he specializes in wetland ecology, wetland restoration, and mitigation wetland design. Dr. Liptak earned a B.S. degree in Biology at the University of Toledo and a Ph.D. degree in Environmental Science at The Ohio State University under the noted wetland ecologist Dr. William Mitsch. He has over 25 years of experience in wetlands research and consulting and is a Certified Senior Ecologist (Ecological Society of America). His primary responsibilities at EnviroScience Inc. include wetland mitigation planning, wetland assessments and delineations, technical report preparation, and permitting. Dr. Liptak is a member of the Society of Wetlands Scientists and the Ecological Society of America, and regularly gives seminars on wetland issues and regulations.

Course Description: This course examines federal and Ohio wetlands law and enforcement, wetland identification and ecological functions, permitting processes and policy, and mitigation policy and procedures.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to identify wetlands by their soils, plants, and water, and they will be able to identify and describe the ecological functions of wetlands, including flood storage, pollution control and carbon storage, erosion control, wildlife habitat, and human recreation.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to reference and discuss federal and Ohio wetlands laws and be able to identify enforcement entities.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to reference and discuss compliance standards for wetlands permitting processes. and policy and mitigation policy involving the creation, enhancement, restoration, and preservation requirements.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to describe wetland preservation strategies and techniques and methods for wetland restoration, creation and enhancement.
