All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

This webinar is open to the public and is designed to qualify for 7.0 PDHs for professional engineers and 7.0 HSW continuing education hours for licensed architects in Texas.

The Texas Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors does not pre-approve any continuing education activities.

The American Institute of Architects Continuing Education System has approved this course for 7.0 HSW LUs (Sponsor No. J885). Only full participation is reportable to the AIA/CES.

The International Code Council has approved this event for .7 CEUs in the specialty area of Building (Preferred Provider No. 1232).

Attendance will be monitored, and attendance certificates will be available after the webinar for those who attend the entire course and score a minimum 80% on the quiz that follows the course (multiple attempts allowed).

Mr. Taylor is an experienced architect with a distinguished career spanning over three decades, marked by an expertise in navigating the intricate world of architectural codes and standards. He served on the 2024 ICC IECC Residential Envelope and Embodied Energy Subcommittee, is a current member of the Dallas AIA Chapter Codes and Standards Committee and will serve on the 2027 ICC Residential Code Development Consensus Committee. As a senior architectural project manager, Mr. Taylor has led and coordinated teams of up to 30 members on a multitude of projects, with construction budgets up to $130 million. His meticulous attention to detail and comprehensive understanding of building codes have been instrumental in ensuring the successful completion of these large-scale ventures. Mr. Taylor has held various positions including Vice President, Director of Architecture, Director of Pre-Construction Services, and Owner’s Representative, each role further enriching his depth of knowledge and expertise in the field. Mr. Taylor’s contributions have garnered numerous accolades, including recognition on the Conde Nast Traveler Hot List while serving at Three Architecture, and the United Masonry Contractors Golden Trowel Award while principal of Tom Taylor and Associates. Additionally, he has been honored twice with the American Institute of Architects Merit Award. A graduate of the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Architecture degree, Tom remains actively engaged in professional associations such as the International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants and the Dallas AIA. Mr. Taylor commitment to staying abreast of the latest industry developments underscores his passion for advancing the field of architecture and his dedication to delivering unparalleled results.

Course Title: 2021 International Residential Code with Dallas Amendments

Course Description: This seven-hour course closely examines and explains the provisions and regulations of the 2021 International Residential Code and related amendments published by the city of Dallas, Texas. The courses focuses on the development and enforcement of the 2021 IRC, its adoption in Dallas, building planning, shell construction, energy efficiency, and mechanical, fuel, plumbing and electrical systems.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to discuss the development, adoption, and enforcement of the 2021 International Residential Code in Dallas and gain familiarity with the Dallas amendments.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to utilize chapters 2-10 of the Code as a guide for building planning and shell construction. Topics include live loads, seismic provisions, ceiling heights, garages, ingress and egress stairways, fire detection, wood products, roof assemblies, framing, foundations, and much more.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to utilize chapter 11 of the Code to increase energy efficiency by giving special consideration to climate classifications, thermal envelopes, insulation, fenestration, and lighting.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to reference the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC) and the National Electrical Code (NEC) for information guiding the design and construction of mechanical, fuel, plumbing and electrical systems. Topics include fuel gas system and appliances, plumbing fixtures, drains, backflow preventers, overcurrent devices, electrical outlets, pools, hot tubs, and much more.
