All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

This webinar offers 7.0 PDHs to professional engineers and 7.0 HSW continuing education
hours to architects licensed in all states.

Christopher McWhite, CBO, HCO

Mr. McWhite is a graduate of Vincennes University. He has served as an inspector and plans examiner in Massachusetts, Georgia, Virginia, and Indiana. He has served on the Massachusetts Construction Supervisor Licensing exam rewriting committee to help transition the exam from the 2009 to the 2015 International Codes, as a member of the International Code Council’s IPMC / IZC Code Development Committee, and as member of the ICC Building Membership Council. Mr. McWhite has earned a combined 21 Certifications from SBCCI (Legacy Code) and ICC including Housing Code Official, Building Code Specialist, Plumbing Code Specialist, Certified Building Official, and is currently two certifications away from Master Code Professional.

Course Description: This seven-hour live lecture presentation examines code compliance challenges and opportunities with the International Existing Building Code, the scope and administration of the Code (Chapter 1), definitions (Chapter 2), compliance methods (Chapter 3), repairs (Chapter 4), classification of work (Chapter 6), alterations (Chapters 7-9), change of occupancy (Chapter 10), additions (Chapter 11), historic buildings (Chapter 12), and moved or relocated buildings (Chapter 14).

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to identify and discuss the challenges of maintaining and upgrading existing building stock to meet current safety and occupancy standards.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to identify and discuss the challenges of maintaining and upgrading existing building stock to meet current safety and occupancy standards.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to meet requirements for making changes of occupancy to existing buildings, complying with requirements for structural, electrical and mechanical work, along with fire protection requirements.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to comply with International Existing Building Code requirements on the height and area of additions to existing buildings, including the structural requirements for newly constructed spaces attached to existing buildings.
