Devin Abellon, P.E. is the vice president of engineering sales for The Pyure Company. He has 29 years of experience in the HVAC and plumbing industries with a focus on high-performance and sustainable building design and construction. He holds a bachelor of science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Santa Barbara and is a registered professional engineer in California and Arizona. He is an active member of both ASPE and ASHRAE. Mr. Abellon serves on the ASHRAE Board of Directors as the Region X DRC and as an ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer. He is also a member of ASHRAE Technical Committee 6.5: Radiant Heating and Cooling and has served as the Programs Subcommittee chair and Handbook Subcommittee Chair.

Tiffany Bates Abruzzo

Senior Application Engineer at ClimaCool Corp.

Ms. Abruzzo is a senior application engineer at ClimaCool Corp, where she joined the team in 2006 as employee number 5. She has enjoyed growing ClimaCool into the multimillion modular chiller and electric heating and cooling solution manufacturer it is today. As a chemical engineering graduate from Arizona State University, Ms. Abruzzo started in HVAC Sales at a representative firm in Phoenix. There she promoted ClimaCool and its sister companies for 5 years before joining CCC as a Regional Sales Manager. For 15 years as a RSM and now as part of the Application Engineering team, she educates coworkers, partners, key consultants and contractors in the technical design, application, and install of heat pump, heat recovery, and simultaneous heating and cooling systems. These systems fit perfectly into building decarbonization and electrification by providing high efficiencies in a compact, redundant footprint. Ms. Abruzzo has had direct involvement in securing high-profile projects at multiple locations including Google, Kaiser, LBNL, PNNL and top Universities across the West. Pikes Place Market and Golden State Warriors Arena. Ms. Abruzzo just celebrated 20 years of active volunteerism as an ASHRAE member. She was the Society 2020-21 RP chair, is a past Society Honors and Awards chair, and is currently the Society Development Committee chair and San Diego Chapter RP Chair. She is also active with ASHRAE TC 8.2, AHRI, and the Hydronics Industry Alliance.

Course Description: This 6-hour course will cover the fundamentals of hydronic heating systems and radiant heating systems, discuss boilers, liquids and heat exchangers, explore smart heating electrification, analyze radiant system design, and discuss the installation and operation considerations of these systems.

Learning Objective 1: Learners will be able to identify hydronic heating components, explain system operation and applications, and discuss energy usage and efficiency.
