Each webinar session earns continuing education credit and can be registered for individually. All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. Certificates of completion will be provided for each webinar attended and will be sent via email in PDF form about five business days after the conclusion of the series.

Michael C. Penney, P.E. Director of Engineering/Principal, GeoInsight, Inc.
Mr. Penney graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1984 with a degree in Civil Engineering and has spent his last 33 years in private consulting working on geotechnical, environmental remediation, civil site design, and landfill projects. He specializes in the interaction of new and existing structures with soil, groundwater, and bedrock. His work assignments and responsibilities have enabled him to be directly involved in many thousands of investigation, evaluation and design projects throughout New England, and he has served as an expert witness on over 20 litigation cases. Mr. Penney is a professional engineer in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Vermont, Connecticut, and Maine, and he is a licensed site professional in Massachusetts. He has been with GeoInsight since 1993 and is their director of engineering. In addition to direct senior management of projects and senior peer review, Mr. Penney’s responsibilities include steering GeoInsight’s business activities with a small group of majority shareholders, and working on business development and client management

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able identify and explain the site investigation processes that are the first step in a geotechnical report, including field exploration and assessment, field testing, and laboratory testing.
Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to explain the process and importance of determining subsurface site conditions of soil, groundwater, bedrock, environmental conditions, and obstructions.
Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to discuss how geotechnical recommendations in reports should be used when making critical building design decisions.
Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to use geotechnical reports for site preparation, ground improvement, structural fill placement, dewatering, and erosion and sediment control
