All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

This webinar is open to the public and is designed to qualify for 2.0 PDHs for professional engineers, 2.0 HSW continuing education hours for licensed architects, and 2.0 HSW continuing education hours for landscape architects in all states that allow this learning method. Speakers

David K. Hein, P.Eng.

David K. Hein P.Eng. is a consulting civil engineer with over 38 years of experience in the design, evaluation and management of transportation infrastructure. He recently retired from Applied Research Associates, Inc. of Toronto, Canada where he managed the 90-person Transportation Infrastructure Division in the U.S. and Canada. He is the past president of the American Society of Civil Engineers Transportation and Development Institute (ASCE T&DI), and chair of several engineering standards committees. He is a member of the Transportation Association of Canada (TAC), past-chair of the pavements committee and past member of the Transportation Research Board pavement management, pavement maintenance and pavement preservation committees. He has been a member of the World Road Association (WRA) pavements and asset management committees since 2002. He has been involved in numerous national and international research, evaluation and asset management projects for Federal, State, Provincial and Municipal agencies and many of the public/private/ partnership highway construction projects across Canada and the United States.

Course Title: How to Design, Construct and Maintain a Cost-Effective Permeable Pavement

Course Description: This course examines the purpose of permeable pavements, determining which sites ate appropriate for them, how sites are prepared for them, material specifications and installation, and preventive maintenance.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to explain the function of permeable pavement and how sites are evaluated for permeable pavement suitability

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to describe how sites are designed and prepared for permeable pavement installation, including traffic assessment, subgrade improvements, base and subbase material selection, and determining structural and hydrologic capacities.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to describe the permeable pavement installation process and for providing supplemental surface drainage.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to explain the importance of conducting preventive maintenance to ensure the functionality of permeable pavement.
