Each webinar session earns continuing education credit and can be registered for individually. All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion will be provided for each webinar attended and will be sent via email in PDF form about five business days after the conclusion of the series.

Webinars are presented via GoToWebinar, an easy-to-use application that can be run on most systems and tablets. Mr. Hein has over 35 years of experience in the design, evaluation, construction and maintenance of pavements.  He has worked extensively with permeable pavements over the past 15 years developing standards, tools, guidelines, design and construction best practices and maintenance manuals to ensure quality and long-lasting permeable pavements.  Mr. Hein is the chair of the American Society of Civil Engineers Transportation and Development Institute Standards Committee that recently published a standard for the design, construction and maintenance of permeable interlocking concrete pavements.  His research projects include the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Project 25-25 Task 82 titled “Permeable Shoulders with Stone Reservoirs” that project design, construction and maintenance guidelines for the use of permeable pavement shoulders for roadways and highways along with many permeable pavement demonstration projects.  Mr. Hein is also the author of the U.S. Federal Highway Administration (FHWA)  Tech Brief on pervious concrete and permeable pavers.
Mr. Hein is a recognized expert of the structural and hydrologic design and maintenance of permeable pavements and has completed hundreds of presentations, webinars and workshops on permeable pavement design both nationally and internationally.

Course Title: How to Design, Construct and Maintain a Cost-Effective Permeable Pavement

Course Description: This course examines the purpose of permeable pavements, determining which sites ate appropriate for them, how sites are prepared for them, material specifications and installation, and preventive maintenance.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to explain the function of permeable pavement and how sites are evaluated for permeable pavement suitability

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to describe how sites are designed and prepared for permeable pavement installation, including traffic assessment, subgrade improvements, base and subbase material selection, and determining structural and hydrologic capacities.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to describe the permeable pavement installation process and for providing supplemental surface drainage.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to explain the importance of conducting preventive maintenance to ensure the functionality of permeable pavement.
