Course Title: Geothermal Heating and Cooling: Technology and Applications
Delivery Method: Live Online
Course Description: This 6.5 hour live lecture course covers the how the laws of thermaldynamics apply to geothermal heat pumps, earth loop systems, design of geothermal systems, system type selection, the benefits of geothermal systems, and geothermal system maintenance.
Learning Objectives:
Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to describe geothermal heat pump theory, including how the laws of thermal dynamics apply to geothermal heat pumps, the refrigeration cycle, calculating heating and cooling loads, how comfort is measured, and efficiency.
Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to explain the benefits of geothermal heat pump systems, including performance, cost savings, environmental advantages, and available incentives.
Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to describe how site conditions impact geothermal heat pump design, including site topography, soil conductivity, and site usage.
