This webinar is open to the public and is designed to qualify for 7.0 HSW continuing education hours for licensed architects in Connecticut and provides a 7.0-hour learning opportunity to engineers licensed in Connecticut. This course may qualify for 7.0 PDHs for engineers in other states; please refer to specific state rules to determine eligibility.
The American Institute of Architects Continuing Education System has approved this course for 7.0 HSW LUs (Sponsor No. J885). Only full participation is reportable to the AIA/CES.
The International Code Council has approved this event for .7 CEUs in the specialty area of Building (Preferred Provider No. 1232).
Attendance will be monitored, and attendance certificates will be available after the webinar for those who attend the entire course and score a minimum 80% on the quiz that follows the course (multiple attempts allowed).

Milton "Greg" Grew, AIA
Architect - Building official - Codes ConsultantMr. Grew is licensed as an architect in Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey. He is also licensed as a building official in Connecticut. For ten years Mr. Grew was the chief building official for the Town of East Hartford. Since 1989 he has been owner of his own architectural design practice working extensively in the residential, commercial, and institutional building sectors. With his expertise in codes, he has also maintained a practice as codes consultant to other architects, engineers, contractors, building owners, and municipalities. Mr. Grew has served on the AIA national Codes & Standards Committee and various committees of the International Code Council and ASTM International.

Course Title: Existing Building Provisions of the 2022 Connecticut State Building Code

Course Description: This seven-hour course begins with a discussion on the development, adoption and applicability of the existing building provisions of the 2022 Connecticut State Building Code. The course will closely analyze chapters 1-14 and cover code-compliant repairs, alterations, changes of occupancy, additions and more.

Learners will be able to discuss the IEBC’s adoption in Connecticut, identify and define existing buildings, and explain the role of architects with existing buildings.
Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to differentiate between level 1, 2, and 3 alterations and describe how to differentiate the different types of work.
Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to explain the difference between partial and full change of occupancy and discuss the relevant code provisions.
Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to identify code provisions impacting moved or relocated buildings and discuss compliance methods.
