All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

Continuing Education Credit Information

This webinar is open to the public and is designed to qualify for 6.5 PDHs for professional engineers and 6.5 HSW continuing education hours for licensed architects in all states that allow this learning method. Please refer to specific state rules to determine eligibility.

Mr. Boekhout has been educating and presenting seminars for the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs and Rutgers University for the past 30 years.

Course Title: Determining Means of Egress Compliance Using the 2021 IBC

Delivery Method: Live Online

Course Description: This 6.5-hour course will explain how to determine compliance with means of egress requirements of the 2021 IBC for a wide array of building components, including corridors, stairs, balconies, exterior ramps, special doors, exits, and more. The course will also discuss the proper use of illumination, signage, handrails and accessibility features to ensure compliance.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to determine egress compliance of stairs, corridors, turnstiles, doors and elevators using the 2021 IBC.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to determine occupant loads, the required number of exits and travel distance to comply with egress requirements of the 2021 IBC.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to utilize handrails, guards, ramps and illuminated devices to achieve an accessible means of egress.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to discuss egress requirements for high-rise buildings, specifically marking and signage, as well as wall ratings and smoke proof enclosures.
