Each webinar session earns continuing education credit and can be registered for individually. All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.
Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.
Webinars are presented via GoToWebinar, an easy-to-use application that can be run on most systems and tablets. Instructions and login information will be provided in an email sent close to the date of the webinar. HalfMoon Education is deemed a New York-approved continuing education provider for engineers, architects, and landscape architects via its registration with the American Institute of Architects Continuing Education System (Regulations of the Commissioner §68.14(i)(2), §69.6(i)(2), and §79-1.5(i)(2)). Only AIA HSW-approved courses qualify for New York engineer and architect credit.
Completion certificates will be awarded to participants who complete this event, respond to prompts, and earn a passing score (80%) on the quiz that follows the presentation (multiple attempts allowed).

Mr. Forrest joined the CNCA in 2015 and serves as the Technical Director. Mr. Forrest’s function is to provide resources, recommendations, education, technical expertise, and other services to municipalities, engineers, project owners, developers, and contractors. His focus includes cement and concrete materials and applications for transportation, water conveyance, buildings, and other pieces of civil infrastructure.
Prior to his work with the CNCA, Mr. Forrest worked as a consulting materials engineer on numerous large Caltrans projects in Southern California, most recently on the Gerald Desmond Bridge replacement in Long Beach. Mr. Forrest graduated from The University of Arizona with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. Nathan is a licensed Civil Engineer in the state of California and maintains industry certifications from the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure, The American Concrete Institute, The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association, and others.
Clay Slocum P.E.

Mr. Slocum joined CNCA as the Northern California/Northern Nevada pavements engineer in January 2014 and is based in Chico, California. He provides technical expertise, education, concrete resources, and several other services to municipalities, engineers, and developers to advance the applications and use of concrete for streets, local roads, and parking areas. Mr. Slocum specializes in conventional concrete, concrete overlays, roller- compacted concrete, and pervious concrete, but is knowledgeable on most concrete-related applications. He is active in local societies including ASCE, ACI, SNCA, CalGeo, and EBME (where he is the outgoing co-chair). Prior to joining CNCA, Mr. Slocum worked as a geotechnical consulting engineer in Walnut Creek, California. He graduated from University of the Pacific with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a minor in Engineering Management before continuing his education at U.C. Berkeley where he obtained his Master’s degree in Civil Engineering. Mr. Slocum is a licensed civil engineer in the state of California and is certified by ACI.

Course Description: This course examines concrete and rigid pavement applications for streets, roads and parking areas. Topics include pavement innovations and advancements, thickness design, plans and specifications, codes and standards, and troubleshooting.

Learners will be able to examine software tools that can assist with calculating the appropriate, longest lasting pavement thickness for various pavement applications.

Learners will be able to navigate and comply with all relevant codes and standards that apply to concrete pavement projects.

Learners will be able to troubleshoot common issues that arise when working with rigid pavements and identify solutions to extend longevity and keep surfaces smooth and safe for users.
