This webinar is open to the public and is designed to qualify for 3.0 PDHs for professional engineers, 3.0 HSW continuing education hours for licensed architects, and 3.0 HSW continuing education hours for landscape architects in all states that allow this learning method. Sharareh Shirzad, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor at Appalachian State UniversityDr. Sharareh Shirzad is an assistant professor at the Department of Sustainable Technology and the Built Environment at Appalachian State University. Before that, she worked as a graduate research assistant at Louisiana State University and Louisiana Transportation Research Center. She obtained her Ph.D. degree from the Department of Construction Management at LSU working on light-activated self-healing asphalt materials. She also holds a graduate certificate in Materials Science and Engineering. Dr. Shirzad’s research expertise and interest are in the broad theme of sustainable infrastructure and sustainable construction materials. She has published the results from her research on self-healing asphalt materials, recycling of asphalt materials, and sustainable asphalt pavements in multiple peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering and the Journal of Construction and Building Materials. She is currently working on the use of bio-oil and biochar obtained from pyrolysis of the wood and forestry waste in asphalt and concrete pavement, respectively.
