All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

This webinar offers 4.0 PDHs to professional engineers in all states and 4.0 continuing education hours to architects in states that allow non-HSW coursework.

Speakers

Mike Keating, PE, MBA

Mr. Keating has been in the construction industry for over 29 years in various capacities including estimator/cost engineer, project manager, construction manager, director of construction, and A/E construction administrator to name a few. He has been involved in both commercial and residential construction projects both in the public and private sector with several individual projects exceeding $100 million in construction value. He currently works for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a cost engineer and value engineering officer on large military, civil works, and inter-agency developments. In addition, he teaches a class in Construction Engineering as an adjunct instructor at the University of South Alabama, Department of Civil, Coastal, and Environmental Engineering.
Mr. Keating grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, and holds a bachelor of science degree in Construction Management from the University of Nebraska. In addition, he received his MBA degree from the University of West Florida in 2004. He is a licensed professional engineer (PE) in the State of Virginia and a certified general contractor (CGC) in the State of Florida, and he holds several other industry certifications including certified cost engineer (CCE), value management associate (VMA), certified professional estimator (CPE), and certified construction contract administrator (CCCA).

Course Title: Construction Project Management

Course Description: This course examines the roles and duties of construction project managers from project inception to closeout.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to identify the participants in public and private construction projects, and they will be able to describe project stages, promoting a deeper understanding of the ways in which participants can work together to cooperatively and efficiently bring projects to completion.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to do due diligence and conduct code research to determine project scope and feasibility.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to identify critical contract provisions as well as general and supplemental conditions which will help them determine whether project participants are in compliance with all requirements.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to determine the benefits and drawbacks of different construction scheduling methods, including the critical path method, and they will identify the consequences of failing to comply with the project schedule.

Learning Objective 5:
Learners will be able to manage situations during the construction phase, including change orders, equipment availability and scheduling, labor issues, materials acquisition and payment applications.

Learning Objective 6:
Learners will be able to comply with safety regulations, and with requirements for the use of sustainable materials and construction practices.
