Webinar Instructions

Each webinar session earns continuing education credit and can be registered for individually. All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

This webinar is open to the public and is intended to offer 7.0 PDHs to professional
engineers and 7.0 HSW continuing education hours to licensed architects in Texas.
Professionals licensed in other states will be able to claim the hours earned at this

For over 13 years Mr. Gee has led Absolute Energy Raters. He continues to deliver impeccable consulting services. He believes that Absolute Energy Raters can add value to the construction process by consulting architects, project managers and sub-contractors on code requirements for energy efficiency in commercial, residential and multi-family construction. He is also a Specialist with the Architectural Barriers Texas Accessibly Standards (TAS) administered by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

Course Title: Complying with the Texas Energy Code for Single-Family Construction

Course Description: This seven-hour course informs design professionals on the history, development, and general administration of the Texas Energy Code, discusses the basics of energy efficiency, explores code compliance alternatives, analyzes residential energy efficiency strategies, evaluates heating, cooling, electrical and lighting systems, and goes beyond the current code requirements in Texas.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to identify and discuss the history, development and general administration of the Texas Energy Code, as well as the scope, requirements, amendments, and standards. Development of Chapter 11 of the International Residential Code 2015 is also discussed.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to understand the basics of residential energy efficiency, including relevant definitions, climate zones, materials, systems and equipment, and recognize code compliance alternatives.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to increase residential energy efficiency through an improved thermal envelope; insulation and fenestration requirements, R-values and U-factor alternatives, and energy modeling are of particular focus.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to evaluate HVAC systems, hot water systems, control systems, ductwork insulation and sealing, mechanical ventilation systems, power systems, and lighting systems.
