All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

Wendy Talarico LEED AP

Ms. Talarico is an ICC-certified energy/green code plan reviewer and consults with architects and engineers throughout the Northeast to provide continuing education on a range of subjects from codes to building science. She is an instructor for Urban Green/New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s “Conquering the Code”, an 8-hour energy code class in New York State. Ms. Talarico was a member of the engineering outreach team for the Brick Industry Association, and she is an award-winning journalist with more than 25 years of experience as a writer and editor for such publications as Architectural Record and This Old House. Her areas of expertise include building energy, sustainability issues, and codes, including the IECC, ASHRAE 90.1, IEBC, and the IgCC.

Course Title: Complying with the Commercial Provisions of the 2020 New York State Energy Conservation Code

Delivery Method: Live Online

Course Description: This seven-hour live presentation examines the International Energy Conservation Code and New York’s amendments to formulate the New York Energy Conservation Construction Code. It covers commercial provisions for building envelopes, HVAC systems, service water heating, and power and lighting.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to reference and comply with commercial provisions in the New York State Commercial Energy Conservation Code (NYSECC) to increase the benefits of insulation, air barriers and thermal boundaries in buildings to reduce energy consumption.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to reference and comply with commercial provisions in the NYSECC to increase efficiencies in heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems, including complying with control requirements, equipment types and applications, ventilation standards, and refrigeration.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to reference and comply with commercial provisions in the NYSECC to utilize code-compliant pipe insulation, pool covers and heat traps for service water heating efficiency.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to reference and comply with commercial provisions in the NYSECC for increased efficiency in power and lighting systems, including controls and exterior lighting.
