All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

Continuing Education Credit Information

This webinar is open to the public and is designed to qualify for 2.0 PDHs for professional engineers, 2.0 HSW continuing education hours for licensed architects, and 2.0 HSW continuing education hours for landscape architects in all states that allow this learning method. Please refer to specific state rules to determine eligibility.

Abadi Accessibility

Abadi Accessibility is an accessibility consulting firm that is dedicated to educating the building industry about the laws of accessibility. Ms. Rhoads received her Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Texas in Austin and is a registered architect in Texas and an accessibility specialist. She assists the building industry, in part, by performing plan reviews and inspection for Texas Accessibility Standards and producing a monthly newsletter to educate on the best way to apply the standards to architectural projects. Ms. Rhoads is the author of The ADA Companion Guide and Applying the ADA published by John Wiley and Sons.

Course Title: Barrier-Free Requirements in Outdoor Spaces

Course Description: This two-hour course explores the principles and requirements surrounding barrier-free design in outdoor spaces. The course explores a brief history of anti-discrimination in design, focuses on the application of accessibility codes and standards to specific projects, and identifies common violations.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to explore the historical development of anti-discrimination laws and their impact on accessibility requirements for outdoor spaces.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to determine which accessibility codes and regulations apply to a project, including the ADA, PROWAG, Fair Housing Accessibility Guidelines, and state/local building codes.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to identify common accessibility violations related to exterior elements for site arrival points and accessible routes, and analyze strategies for addressing and mitigating these violations.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to discuss emerging trends and potential future developments in accessibility requirements for outdoor spaces.
