Each webinar session earns continuing education credit and can be registered for individually. Ashley E. Jones, M.A., R.P.A., Principal Investigator/Project Manager at Moore Archeological Consulting, Inc.
Ashley E. Jones serves as a Principal Investigator and Project Manager for cultural resource projects. Her duties include preparing scopes of work and research designs, the execution of archeological permits, the management of field investigations, and reporting for Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and Antiquities Code of Texas permitted projects. Through her education and career, Ms. Jones has acquired extensive clearance experience on a wide-range of cultural resource projects, including artifact analyses, exploratory testing excavations, and large-scale data recovery excavations. She has completed Phase I, II and III field investigations in Texas, Oklahoma, Ohio, New Mexico and Arizona. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Virginia, Charlottesville and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Ms. Jones currently serves as a Board of Directors member for the Houston Archeological Society (HAS), which was founded in 1959 to understand the prehistory of the Upper Texas Gulf Coast. With HAS, she runs a public outreach and education program in northwest Harris County. She is the Diversity Chair for the Houston Chapter of WTS, an international organization that promotes the careers of women in the transportation industry.

Michael Liptak, Ph.D., Senior Ecologist at EnviroScience, Inc.
Dr. Michael Liptak is a senior ecologist at EnviroScience, Inc, where he specializes in wetland ecology, wetland restoration, and mitigation wetland design. Dr. Liptak earned a B.S. in Biology at the University of Toledo and a Ph.D. in Environmental Science at Ohio State University under the noted wetland ecologist Dr. William Mitsch. He has over 25 years of experience in wetlands research and consulting and is a Certified Senior Ecologist (Ecological Society of America). His primary responsibilities at EnviroScience Inc. include wetland mitigation planning, wetland assessments and delineations, technical report preparation, and permitting. Dr. Liptak is a member of the Society of Wetlands Scientists and the Ecological Society of America, and regularly gives seminars on wetland issues and regulations within Ohio.

Course Description: This course is intended to assist design professionals in navigating the complex issues of archaeological sites and endangered species as they relate to development and construction activities. Design professionals have a legal and ethical obligation to protect archaeological sites and endangered species, and this course reviews the applicable laws, identifies the roles of the various enforcement agencies, provides guidance on identifying, locating and working on archaeological sites, and reviews useful definitions and case studies.
