Course Title: Adopting and Complying with the Zero Code 2.0: Dive into your net zero energy goals in this live online workshop
Delivery Method: Live Online
Course Description: This course examines the Zero Energy Code 2.0, a new building energy efficiency standard that aims to address climate change by establishing a new standard for the design and construction of Zero Carbon Buildings, which use no fossil fuels and produce enough renewable energy to meet their own consumption needs. Topics include the development and scope of the code, meeting renewable energy requirements, complying with other standards referenced in the code, and a hands-on workshop in which learners will be able to apply the code to sample residential and commercial projects.
Learning Objectives:
Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to state the purpose of the Zero Code, explain how it was developed, and apply the code to sample commercial and residential projects.
Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to discuss and reference the code’s minimum energy efficiency requirements and identify key building performance factors.
Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to identify the minimum renewable energy requirements by type of building and climate zone, and weigh the costs and benefits of on-site versus offsite production.
Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to identify and comply with codes and standards referenced within the Zero Code, including ASHRAE, IECC, ASTM, AAMA, ACCA and others.
LUs: 6.5 LU Type: LU|HSWs.
Prerequisites: Experience with alternative energy sources and conservation and experience with building code interpretation/compliance
Advance Preparation: None
Program Level: Intermediate
Course Expiration Date: 01/31/2025
