Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

Continuing Education Credit Information

This webinar is open to the public and is designed to qualify for 2.0 PDHs for professional engineers and 2.0 HSW continuing education hours for licensed architects in all states that allow this learning method. Please refer to specific state rules to determine eligibility.

Tom Halek

Head of EV Charging Solutions with J. Becher & Associates

Mr. Halek has been working in the transportation electrification space for the past five years. He has worked with several OEM electric vehicle (EV) charging station manufacturers and in eMobility and Electrical Infrastructure executive leadership positions. Mr. Halek has authored articles on EV charging for the Minnesota Multi Housing Association, Minnesota Business Journal, and the Minnesota Real Estate Journal. In addition, he has moderated CEC approved panels and participated as a subject matter expert on EV charging for the Building Owners & Managers Association Greater Minneapolis, MN Real Estate Journal Multi Housing Summit, and the Minnesota Multi Housing Association Executive Conference. He is knowledgeable on a variety of residential and commercial level 2 and direct current fast charging products, network solutions, installation, servicing, and market incentives. Mr. Halek is skilled at developing new business relationships that help deliver the right turnkey EV charging solution for his clients. He holds a B.S. degree of Industrial Studies degree from St. Cloud State University and an M.B.A. degree from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Business. Mr. Halek spent 20 years working in the utility space. He currently works for J. Becher & Associates, a full-service Twin Cities based union electrical and technology contractor that holds the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Training Program (EVITP) certification along with many other certified installation partner designations with major EV charging station OEMs. Mr. Halek leads their turnkey team for EV charging solutions in the residential, multi-family and commercial segments.

Course Title: Adding EV Charging Stations to Homes or Businesses

Delivery Method: Live Online

Course Description: This two-hour course explores electric vehicle charging demands, infrastructure, construction, operation and economics for homes and businesses. The course will explain the different types of electric vehicles and chargers and focus on site planning, construction, operation, and maintenance. The course includes a discussion on economics based on utility rates and market positioning for electrical contractors.

Learners will be able to identify different types of EV chargers and understand the energy needs of various types of electric vehicles.

Learners will be able to discuss how to evaluate a site for EV charging infrastructure and explore the construction process.

Learners will be able to discuss time-of-day utility rates and how they affect EV charging as a service, both in terms of purchasing and renting.
