Webinar Instructions
Each webinar session earns continuing education credit and can be registered for individually. All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

Kristi Avalos is president and CEO of Accessology Too, LLC, a firm dedicated to providing consulting services to building owners, architects, municipalities, and company owners regarding compliance with state and federal disability laws. Ms. Avalos founded Accessology in 1990 after 12 years in the airline industry, where she played a crucial role in ensuring industry compliance with the Air Carrier Access Act (ACAA). Since then, Accessology has grown to provide not only state plan reviews and inspections, but also national and international consulting services. Considered a true expert in her field, Ms. Avalos is also a sought-after witness for ADA/ACAA legal cases and has been named on more than 40 cases nationwide. Recognizing the value of educating others on the importance of removing attitudinal and architectural barriers, she proudly offers training on both federal and state accessibility standards throughout the US.

Course Title: Accessible Trail Design, Construction, and Operation

Delivery Method: Live Online

Course Description: This course explores accessible trail design to accommodate users with a wide range of disabilities. The course begins by providing a foundational understanding of accessibility issues and regulations, including the ADA Standards for Accessible Design and PROWAG. Then the course provides strategies to accommodate users with different disabilities, discusses trail design guidelines and considerations, and provides guidance on the planning and construction of accessible trails.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to identify proper accommodations and trail design for users with mobility impairments, sensory impairments and cognitive impairments.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to adopt accessible trail design guidelines, including grade, width, slope, vertical clearance, changes in levels, grates, obstacles and protrusions.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to incorporate other accessible trail design considerations such as ramps, crossings, amenities, signage, warnings, drainage and stormwater management.

Learning Objective 4:
Learner will be able to plan and construct accessible trails by identifying needs, engaging stakeholders and the public, and determining incentives. Case studies of completed and in-progress projects will be discussed.
