LID and Rain Garden Basics: The ‘What’ and ‘Why’
Friday, November 3, 2023 | 10:00 am – 12:00 pm CDT
- LID (low impact development) – aka rainscaping – is about capturing rain where it falls, holding it, and soaking it in
- There isn’t one ‘big lever’ to deal with today’s more severe rain events
- Methods of capturing and infiltrating runoff: infiltration trenches to bioswales
- Dealing with raindrops where they fall is key to reducing flooding and taking stress off municipal infrastructure
- Getting buy-in from the public
