All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

This webinar offers 7.0 PDHs to professional engineers and 7.0 HSW continuing education hours to architects licensed in Minnesota. Educators and courses are not subject to preapproval in Minnesota.

The American Institute of Architects Continuing Education System has approved this course for 7.0 LU|HSW (Sponsor No. J885). Only full participation is reportable to the AIA/CES.

The International Code Council has approved this event for .7 CEUs in the specialty area of Building (Preferred Provider No. 1232).

Completion certificates will be awarded to participants who complete this event, respond to all prompts, and earn a passing score (80%) on the quiz that follows the presentation (multiple attempts allowed).

Greg Karow, C.B.O.

Certified Building Official CEO of Code Educational Opportunities

Mr. Karow is the CEO of Code Educational Opportunities providing education based on current building codes. He also provides service as a building code specialist for design professionals and stakeholders in the industry. Mr. Karow has an extensive background in developing and presenting various types of building code and related seminars. Previous career paths included staff instructor with the International Code Council and with the State of Minnesota Codes and Standards Division. He has instructed in a Building Inspection Technology program at a local community college. Mr. Karow is a certified building official in Minnesota and holds ICC certifications as a Certified Building Official, ICC Plans Examiner, ICC Building Inspector and ICC Building Code Specialist.

Course Description: This course examines provision compliance of the 2020 Minnesota Conservation Code for Existing Buildings (MN CCEB) for repairs, classification of work, alterations, change of occupancy, means of egress, building elements, heights and areas, structural elements, historic buildings, and moved or relocated buildings.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to identify and explain all compliance methods of the Minnesota Conservation Code for Existing Buildings, including the prescriptive method, the work area method, and the performance method.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to reference and comply with MN CCEB provisions for repairs and classification of work for existing buildings.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to reference and comply with MN CCEB provisions for change of occupancy, means of egress and building elements.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to reference and comply with MN CCEB provisions for building heights, areas, structural requirements, historical buildings, and moved or relocated buildings.
