All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. Course Description: This course examines the stormwater permit requirement and procedures, the application of science to stormwater, post construction stormwater management (PCSM) plans, selecting appropriate stormwater best management practices, the operation and maintenance of stormwater management practices, and Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection NPDES Chapter 102 updates.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to discuss scientific concepts of hydrology, soil science, and drainage, and they will be able to describe the consequences of storm events. Learners will be able to explain how the concepts and the effects of stormwater should be considered for site development and the need provide protection for buildings and their occupants in the event of extreme weather events.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to assist in the development of post-construction stormwater management, which includes assessing building sites, including stormwater management design elements, choosing best management practices, obtaining planning for required inspection, maintenance and recordkeeping.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to identify, evaluate, and choose appropriate stormwater best management practices, both structural and non-structural, including preservation of natural features, conservation design, reduction of impervious cover, riparian buffers and filter strips, rain gardens, green roofs, rain barrels and cisterns, and proprietary practices.

Learners will be able to identify and comply with federal and state stormwater permit requirements and procedures, and they will be able to reference and interpret new Pennsylvania rules on erosion and sediment control (PA DET – NPDES Chapter 102).
