Low impact development (LID) strategies are important tools in addressing challenging site conditions for land development projects. Having utilized these strategies over many years, Mr. Howick has found that LID strategies can be cost efficient, environmentally effective, and aesthetically pleasing. During the past 14 years Mr. Howick has provided planning, permitting and site design services in the creation of smarter spaces for learning in his role as senior landscape architect for Fanning Howey Associates, Inc. in Celina, Ohio. As a LEED-accredited professional he has provided site design leadership on nearly 50 LEED Certified projects, 20 of which are certified Gold. In addition to his current work, Mr. Howick has worked in the mitigation of transportation infrastructure impacts, and in the planning and design of urban open space.

Flatland Resources LLC
Having grown a land use planning and design consulting firm over the past 30 years, Mr. Tevis has become an expert in water resource management and the enhancement of river health across the Midwest. Based in Muncie, Indiana, his firm Flatland Resources, LLC, is the primary consultant for the longest watershed project in Indiana. His firm provides services in stream restoration, including multiple dam removal projects. His firm has developed of over 100 miles of trails and the management planning for over 700 acres of preserved woodlands, created prairies and other natural areas. His firm has integrated alternative practices to combined sewer separation projects in defiance of convention, yielding cost savings and social benefit to the rate payers. Mr. Tevis has served as adjunct faculty in the Ball State Universities Landscape Architecture Department.
