Course Title: Construction Cost Estimating
Delivery Method: Live
Course Description: This 6.5 hour live lecture presentation examines different types of cost estimates, estimating resources and processes, estimating labor, equipment, overhead and profit, soliciting, and receiving and reviewing subcontractor and vender quotes.
Learning Objectives:
Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able define the purposes of and methodologies for cost estimates, including the need to have cost estimates to accurately plan project budgets and allocate sufficient resources to project phases, protecting the owner and contractors from unanticipated costs which could prevent the project from being completed as planned.
Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to estimate labor and equipment costs on projects, enabling the project manager to allocate adequate manpower and equipment to the project to keep it on schedule, and allowing the owner to take possession of the building on schedule and on budget.
Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to review subcontractor and vendor cost estimates and quotes, protecting the project by ensuring the accuracy of subcontracted estimates and ensuring the quality of materials and construction processes.
Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to participate in group estimating exercises, working as a team to identify all the costs associated in a construction project and to identify appropriate materials, construction processes and costs necessary to meet quality standards, time constraints and the budget limitations.
LUs: 6.5 LU Type: LU|HSWs.
Prerequisites: Familiarity with construction cost estimating.
