Description

You may be paid by one party, but your duties are to many. You owe something to your employer, to the project owner, to those working on the job, and to the general public.

But those duties do not always point in the same direction, and when they diverge, the decision is yours.

Claims against design professionals keep getting more expensive, and insurers report the severity is rising year over year.

And the clause in your contract that disclaims any duty to third parties does not always hold.

That’s why we put this training together: to keep you clear on what you owe and to whom, before one decision costs you a project, a client, or even your license.

You’ll leave this training knowing how to:

  • Determine what you owe your employer, the owner, contractors, subcontractors, and the general public, so that you can see a conflict coming.
  • Treat your safety duties to your employees, the owner, and the public as the ethical obligations that they are.
  • Adopt everyday practices that keep ethical problems from forming in the first place.
  • Test your judgement against real world scenarios that carry real implications.

Voytek Jackowski chairs commercial litigation at Offit Kurman, publishes work on construction law, and sits on the New York City Bar Association’s contruction law committee, positioning him as an authoritative source for design professionals seeking to abide by ethical standards and protect their work, their contractors, and the general public.

Satisfy your ethics requirement while providing yourself with the skills and knowledge you need to protect yourself, your employer and, most importantly, the public.
