This webinar is open to the public and is designed to qualify for 6.5 PDHs for professional engineers and 6.5 HSW continuing education hours for licensed architects in New Jersey.

The American Institute of Architects Continuing Education System has approved this course for 6.5 HSW LUs (Sponsor No. J885). Only full participation is reportable to the AIA/CES.

The International Code Council has approved this event for .65 CEUs in the specialty area of Building (Preferred Provider No. 1232).

Attendance will be monitored, and attendance certificates will be available after the course for those who attend the entire course and score a minimum 80% on the quiz that follows the course (multiple attempts allowed).

Mr. Boekhout has been educating and presenting seminars for the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs and Rutgers University for the past 30 years.

Course Title: Significant Changes to the 2021 International Residential Code With Special Emphasis on New Jersey

Delivery Method: Live Online

Course Description: This 6.5-hour course identifies and explains the significant changes made to the 2021 International Residential Code by the International Code Council and by New Jersey in their adoption of the code. Changes of focus include but are not limited to definitions, story height allowances, accessibility, footing, foundations, waterproofing and framing.

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to identify changes to definitions, understand how they affect other code sections, and define “existing building.”

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to identify significant changes to residential accessibility requirements and the changes made in ICC A117.1-2017.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to explain attic ventilation requirements, including newly required vapor diffusion ports in unvented attics in certain zones.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to identify sections of the IRC that were not adopted by New Jersey, including those related to storm shelters.
