Continuing Education Information

This webinar is open to the public and is designed to qualify for 2.0 PDHs for professional engineers and 2.0 HSW continuing education hours for licensed architects in all states that allow this learning method. Please refer to specific state rules to determine eligibility.

Course Title:  Building Envelope Design: Roofing Options for Residential and Small Commercial Buildings

Delivery Method: Live Online 

Course Description: This two-hour course explores roofing systems for residential and small commercial buildings, with an emphasis on structural design, code compliance, and material performance. The program examines roof types, live and dead load calculations, rafter and truss systems, and roofing material selection based on function, cost, and installation methods.

Learning Objectives: 

Learning Objective 1: Learners will be able to identify common roof types used in residential and small commercial construction and explain their structural characteristics.

Learning Objective 2: Learners will be able to evaluate roof design in accordance with applicable building codes and load requirements.

Learning Objective 3: Learners will be able to differentiate between rafter and truss systems and discuss key considerations for truss design and installation.

Learning Objective 4: Learners will be able to compare roofing materials based on performance, initial cost, and long-term value.
