Blevins Sanborn Jezdimir Zack PLC, DetroitMr. Jezdimir focuses on construction law. He has counseled owners, developers, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers in the drafting and negotiation of construction contracts and has counseled clients during all stages of a construction project relative to bids, adequacy of work, sufficiency of plans or specifications, extra work, delays, warranties, and other related issues. Mr. Jezdimir has also spent a great part of his practice representing construction clients in resolving disputes through litigation, arbitration, or other dispute resolution procedures. He has succeeded as lead counsel in numerous trials and arbitration hearings. Mr. Jezdimir vast litigation experience includes arguments before appellate courts as well as complex commercial litigation involving claims over theft of proprietary company information and claims for misrepresentations underlying a commercial transaction. Starting in 2018, after he was appointed to the American Arbitration Association Roster of Arbitrators for construction and commercial disputes, He expanded his practice to include service as an arbitrator in numerous disputes involving commercial and construction contracts. Mr. Jezdimir has been honored by inclusions in Michigan Super Lawyers magazine, a top construction litigator by the magazine, dbusiness, and a Fellow in the Construction Lawyers of America Society.
Matthew S. LaBeau
Collins Einhorn FarrellMr. LaBeau focuses his practice on defense litigation in first party No-Fault claims, uninsured and underinsured motorist claims, automobile negligence, premises liability, general liability, and contractual disputes. He has also successfully defended numerous corporations against product liability and construction defect claims. Mr. LaBeau has extensive experience in defending catastrophic injury claims as well as consulting insurers regarding catastrophic claims prior to litigation. He has vast experience in all aspects of the litigation process from the discovery process through trial and routinely achieves successful results for his clients. Mr. LaBeau has been a leading authority on the reform of Michigan’s No-Fault Act and has numerous presentations and publications on the impacts of the new legislation. He is an author of ICLE’s No-Fault Automobile Law and Practice in Michigan. Mr. LaBeau was recognized by Michigan Lawyers Weekly as a 2023 Leaders in the Law recipient. He completed ICLE’s extensive 40-Hour General Civil Mediation Training, equipping him with specialized negotiation methods to mediate complex civil matters.
Collins O. Y. Ofori-Amanfo, P.E.
Owner and Board Certified Diplomate Forensic Engineer, Principal EngineerMr. Ofori-Amanfo’s broad-based experience includes investigation of collapsed structures, investigation of construction defects and damage, investigation of condensation in building envelopes, evaluation of roof and wall leakage, field water spray testing of windows, and assessment of wind and hail damage. His work also involves giving expert testimony and assisting attorneys in resolving disputes over construction and materials-related problems. Prior to establishing Collins Forensics LLC, Mr. Ofori-Amanfo previously worked for many years at Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. (WJE), the Illinois Department of Transportation, and Twin City Testing Corporation. He received his B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Science and Technology in Ghana and his M.S. degree in Structural Engineering from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. Mr. Ofori-Amanfo is a registered professional engineer in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, North Dakota, Nebraska, and Missouri.
James C. Wright
Zausmer, P.C.Mr. Wright has defended a broad array of insurance claims – first-party no-fault and third-party automobile negligence, premises liability, toxic torts, construction site accidents, defamation, insurance agent errors and omissions, insurance coverage, and even equine liability issues – both at trial and on appeal. He is relentless when it comes to investigating the facts, including creative digital-age discovery practices. In one case, the plaintiff claimed to have sustained a debilitating spinal fracture, yet a court-approved review of her Facebook account uncovered photos of her sledding and waterskiing. In another matter where the plaintiff allegedly suffered a head injury after jumping from a moving car, Mr. Wright found pictures online showing the man bowling, riding roller coasters with this children, and flashing hundred dollar bills representing disability payments. He employs creative thinking to find solutions to problems and to make sure the playing field remains fair.
