This webinar is open to the public and is designed to qualify for 1.5 PDHs for professional engineers, 1.5 HSW continuing education hours for licensed architects, and 1.5 HSW continuing education hours for landscape architects in all states that allow this learning method. Please refer to specific state rules to determine eligibility.

infrastructure such as permeable pavements, rain gardens, as well as landscape installations designed to maximize earths systems while balancing them with the needs and desires of her human inhabitants. Mr. Smith is equally driven by both the form and function of his landscape designs: passionate about the natural world which inspires his commitment to ecological principles and practices; passionate about creating beautiful landscapes to provide clients with an oasis to reconnect with the natural world. He holds several landscape certifications including: MCH, NOFA AOLCP, LEEDGA, and IPCI. Mr. Smith is also a current Trustee and past-President of the Ecological Landscape Alliance.

Course Title:  Our Future with Water: The Why, What and How of Stormwater Management

Course Description: This two-hour course explores practical strategies for managing stormwater in the built environment by capturing, reusing, and slowing runoff using green infrastructure and low-impact design approaches. The program focuses on methods such as rain harvesting, permeable pavements, green roofs, bioswales, rain gardens, and tree planting to improve site performance, reduce flooding, and enhance environmental outcomes.

Learning Objectives: 

Learning Objective 1: Learners will be able to explain why stormwater management is necessary and how unmanaged runoff affects infrastructure, water quality, and community resilience.

Learning Objective 2: Learners will be able to identify and compare stormwater strategies such as rain harvesting, permeable pavements, green roofs, bioswales, rain gardens, and tree planting.

Learning Objective 3: Learners will be able to select appropriate stormwater management techniques to capture, reuse, or slow runoff based on site conditions and project goals.

Learning Objective 4: Learners will be able to integrate stormwater management practices into site and landscape designs to improve environmental performance and long-term resilience.
