This webinar is open to the public and is designed to qualify for 6.0 PDHs for professional engineers and 6.0 HSW continuing education hours for licensed architects in all states that allow this learning method. Please refer to specific state rules to determine eligibility.

Jeff Gilbert

Owner, President of Azimuth Solar LLC

Mr. Gilbert brings over 28 years of experience in the renewable energy industry and holds a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering. He is president of Azimuth Solar where he provides solar energy consulting, training and inspection services within the solar energy and real estate industries. From 2013 to 2016 he served as director of operations and maintenance (O&M) for Vigilant Energy Management, overseeing a portfolio of over 100 commercial PV systems. In 2000 Mr. Gilbert co-founded Chesapeake Solar, a leading mid-Atlantic solar energy company. In 2008 his company was listed on Inc. Magazine’s 500 fastest-growing small companies, and later that same year the company was acquired by groSolar, one of the nation’s leading solar energy companies at the time. He served on the board of directors for the local chapter of the Solar Energy Industries Association (MDV-SEIA) and was chair of the Potomac Region Solar Energy Association (PRSEA) for four years starting in 1998. Mr. Gilbert has been certified by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) for both thermal and photovoltaic systems.

Course Title: NEC Essentials for Today’s Solar Professional

Delivery Method: Live Online 

Course Description: This six-hour course analyzes the National Electrical Code (NEC) provisions most relevant to solar photovoltaic system design and installation. The course covers Articles 690, 691, and 705 in detail, addressing circuit requirements, disconnecting means, wiring methods, grounding, and source connections. The course also explores applicable definitions, general requirements, and wiring methods.

Learning Objectives: 

Learning Objective 1: Learners will be able to reference and comply with NEC Article 690 requirements for PV circuits, disconnecting means, wiring methods, grounding, and source connections.

Learning Objective 2: Learners will be able to identify the unique code requirements for large-scale PV electric supply stations under NEC Article 691.

Learning Objective 3: Learners will be able to describe Article 705 provisions related to interconnected power production sources, including utility interconnections.

Learning Objective 4: Learners will be able to reference key definitions and wiring methods from Articles 100, 200, and 300.
