All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited. 

Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

This webinar is open to the public and is designed to qualify for 2.0 PDHs for professional engineers, 2.0 HSW continuing education hours for licensed architects, and 2.0 HSW continuing education hours for landscape architects in all states that allow this learning method. Lead Ecological Designer, United Designers International, Owner Eastern Ecosystems

Mr. Lynn is an ecological designer and educator based in the United States. He has worked on numerous projects around the world including large-scale watershed restoration, agriculture and agroforestry production systems, and ecological restoration. Around Chesapeake Bay in the US, he works with stormwater management, ecological restoration and living shorelines projects. He has integrated his graduate level academic studies with practical training and certifications to design, implement and manage healthy ecological systems. Mr. Lynn has a passion for education and provides training focused on nature-based solutions for many of our challenges.

Course Title: Living Shorelines: Designing Resilient Estuarine Coasts

Delivery Method: Live Online 

Course Description: This two-hour course explores the design and implementation of living shorelines to support coastal resilience and mitigate erosion. The course explores the causes of coastal erosion, the use of green and grey infrastructure, and the legal and permitting considerations for shoreline protection. The course will also discuss the living shoreline design process, including planning, implementation, and long-term monitoring strategies.

Learning Objectives: 

Learning Objective 1: Learners will be able to identify the causes of coastal erosion and explore methods of mitigation.

Learning Objective 2: Learners will be able to define green infrastructure (berms, swales, etc.) and grey infrastructure (dams, seawalls, etc.) and determine when to utilize each.

Learning Objective 3: Learners will be able to discuss the living shoreline design process and develop plans for the implementation and monitoring of infrastructure.

Learning Objective 4: Learners will be able to identify legal and permitting requirements related to coastal development and shoreline protection.
