All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited.

Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher.

Practice Leader for Ecological Restoration for Biohabitats

Mr. Berg is an ecosystems ecologist with more than 35 years’ experience in the assessment and analysis of natural resources, documentation and permitting experience and the preparation and implementation of restoration plans. The focus of his efforts includes restoration of integrated stream, wetland and floodplain functions as a means to deliver ecosystem services to society, increase natural capital, and integrate local community needs with an appreciation of natural resource values. He graduated with an M.S. in Marine, Estuarine, and Environmental Science from the University of Maryland in 1984 after two years working on Chesapeake Bay issues as a research fellow

Course Description: This two-hour live lecture course will provider learners with a primer on landscape restoration, ecological engineering and novel ecosystems, including a summary of how landscape modification has historically been done. The course will examine stream and wetland restoration, watershed restoration, stormwater management best practices and cost-benefit considerations.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to explain how landscape modification has historically been conducted, and how natural restoration techniques can be used to increase resiliency against global warming.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to compare and contrast watershed restoration techniques using historic landscape models and current engineering best practices.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to explain the limitations of stormwater management in natural restoration projects – what it can and cannot do, and its potential impact on restoration efforts.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to analyze and describe the cost-benefit considerations of green infrastructure.
