All attendees must log-on through their own email – attendees may not watch together if they wish to earn continuing education credit. HalfMoon Education Inc. must be able to prove attendance if either the attendee or HalfMoon Education Inc. is audited. 

Certificates of completion can be downloaded in PDF form upon passing a short quiz. A link to the quiz will be sent to each qualifying attendee immediately after the webinar. The certificate can be downloaded from the Results page of the quiz upon scoring 80% or higher. 

Webinars are presented via GoToWebinar, an easy-to-use application that can be run on most systems and tablets. This webinar is open to the public and is designed to qualify for 3.0 PDHs for professional engineers and 3.0 HSW continuing education hours for licensed architects in all states that allow this learning method. Please refer to specific state rules to determine eligibility.

Mr. Fronapfel is the founder of multiple forensic firms that work nationwide, including PIE, SBSA, and CTETS. His expertise includes geo-hydrology, hydrology, development, civil engineering, structural engineering, building envelope, commissioning, and the interdisciplinary-required practices in the behavior of foundations, substructures, superstructures, and building envelopes in the as-built environment. Mr. Fronapfel provides consulting to designers, builders, developers, attorneys, and real estate professionals. For over 30 years, his work has included ground-up construction and post-construction evaluation of thousands of structures across the United States. Mr. Fronapfel is licensed in 39 states and Puerto Rico.   Mr. Fronapfel has been a Distinguished Lecturer for ASHRAE, is an Adjunct Professor for Colorado School of Mines Civil and Environmental Engineering was and Adjunct Professor at the University of Denver, Burns School for over 15 years, and a Lecturer for the College of Contract Management, U.K.  He also is a speaker for a number of organizations including NSPE, ASCE, NAFE, NABIE, EEBA, DOE, AIA, ICC-Colorado, and others. Mr. Fronapfel’s experience includes providing more than 800 depositions, hundreds of arbitrations, and more than 125 trial testimonies.

Course Title: Designing and Constructing Slab-on-Grade Foundations

Delivery Method: Live Online 

Course Description: This three-hour course focuses on the design and construction of slab-on-grade foundations. The course begins by defining slab-on-grade foundations and their applications before discussing the roles of soil, site topography and site preparation. Then, the course focuses on slab design, reinforcement, foundation insulation, connections and options. Case studies will be analyzed to conclude the course.

Learning Objectives: 

Learning Objective 1: Learners will be able to define slab-on-grade foundations, identify their applications and understand their limitations.

Learning Objective 2: Learners will be able to discuss how site topography and soils affect slab-on-grade foundations, and engage in site preparation.

Learning Objective 3: Learners will be able to analyze slab design, reinforcement, and incorporate foundation insulation.

Learning Objective 4: Learners will be able to discuss the connections, options and details related to slab-on-grade design and examine pertinent case studies.
