Speakers
Stacy D. Dehne, P.E.
Division of Agricultural Resource Management - Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer ProtectionMs. Dehne is a licensed professional engineer in the State of Wisconsin with 30 years of experience in the environmental field. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in Geological Engineering (a combination degree of Geology and Civil Engineering), She has worked for the Wisconsin DNR (WDNR) as well as a private consulting firm doing remediations and redevelopment investigations and designs. Since September 2000, she has been working with The State of Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection (DATCP) as the Field Conservation Engineer serving 14 Northern Wisconsin County Land and Water Conservation Departments. Her job is to help County Land Conservation staff in technical planning, design, and construction of projects that prevent soil erosion and protect water quality. Primarily her workload consists of water resource issues and the protection of eroding streambanks and lakeshores as well as stream crossing design and implementations. Working with private landowners and municipalities she oversees the planning, design, and construction implementation of multiple projects each year. Following standards created and managed by the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), projects adhere to the criteria in “Streambank and Shoreline Protection,” “Stream Crossing,” “Channel Bed Stabilization,” “Open Channel,” “Grade Stabilization” and “Shoreland Habitat” practices. Many projects also require an understanding and incorporation of the WDNR permitting and Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE) permitting if wetlands are adjacent. In 24 years in this position, Ms. Dehne has implemented hundreds of projects on inland lakes and flowages using a combination of bioengineering techniques and hard armoring. She worked with her County coworkers to create and publish a guide for landowners on shoreline stabilization techniques. She has presented multiple times at the Wisconsin Lakes & Rivers Convention.
