Each webinar offers 4.0 PDHs to professional engineers and 4.0 HSW continuing
education hours to architects licensed in all states.

Speakers

Avinash Prasad , PE, PLS, PP, PhD, MSCE, MSEM, F. ASCE, MAREMA

Dr. Prasad is a licensed professional engineer, land surveyor, and professional planner with more than three decades of professional experience in civil engineering, surveying, and management field since his graduation. He has recently earned Ph.D. degree from New York University in Civil Engineering. Dr. Prasad has double M.S. degrees in Civil Engineering and Engineering Management from New Jersey institute of technology and an B.S. degree in Civil Engineering. He has more than 2000 hours of continuous professional education as instructor/participating professional (1990-2022) excluding formal education. Dr. Prasad is a New Jersey state certified emergency medical technician (EMT), emergency medical responder (EMR), fire fighter (FF). He is a fellow of American Society of Civil Engineers and also an active member of several professional organizations such as: AREMA, PMI, AISC, NYSAPLS etc. His technical papers were accepted in multiple ASCE journals and various other organizations like ASCE, AREMA & NYSAPLS conference proceedings for presentation and or publication multiple times.

Course Description: This 4.0 hour course evaluates the practice of railroad engineering, with an emphasis on regenerative braking systems.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective 1:
Learners will be able to define regenerative braking systems, and will be able to describe the energy conservation benefits over traditional braking systems.

Learning Objective 2:
Learners will be able to describe the potential for use of regenerative braking systems with conventional trains as well as with Maglev technology.

Learning Objective 3:
Learners will be able to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions through the use of regenerative braking systems instead of traditional mechanical braking systems.

Learning Objective 4:
Learners will be able to consider the possibility of using regenerative braking systems for on-car electric passenger rail applications, reducing energy consumption and improving safety.
